2025 BHM Program at the DMA and ALL year long!

Honoring Freedman’s Town last year reminded us that creativity isn’t just something we make, it’s something we inherit.

Through the program, we watched people connect the dots between place, memory, and meaning. Freedman’s Town isn’t simply a chapter in Dallas history; it’s a living legacy of Black resilience, ingenuity, and community-building. Creating around that story through drawing, conversation, and public engagement turned history into something you could feel, not just learn.

What stayed with me most was how quickly the work became communal. Participants didn’t just show up to “do art.” They showed up to remember, to ask questions, to honor what was built, and to imagine what restoration could look like when culture is treated as a resource, not an afterthought.

That program set the tone for who Form Creatives is: we don’t create for decoration. We create for recognition, for connection, and for the stories that deserve to be carried forward.
